All Saints', Ockham
with St Michael's Chapel, Downside
GIVING
It costs about £75,000 a year to keep All Saints’ Church and St Michael’s Chapel going. This includes the running costs of both places of worship and the salary and accommodation for our Rector, who we share with the Parish of Ripley. We are very fortunate to be supported with a team of unpaid volunteers, including our Ordained Local Minister, Licensed Lay Minister, organists, churchwardens and many others.
The most efficient way of supporting the work that we do is via the Parish Giving Scheme (PGS), through which regular monthly donations can be made without any transaction fees. One off donations can also be made using credit or debit card. Please click on this link or use the QR code on the right of this page to access PGS. Regular monthly donations through PGS are passed on to the parish in their entirety with no fee deducted, and the Gift Aid is claimed for us and remitted to us on a regular basis, saving our volunteers a lot of time. One off donations are subject to the usual transaction fee from the card provider, but PGS still do all the work to claim and remit the Gift Aid to our parish.
For guidance the average monthly donation in the Diocese of Guildford by regular givers in 2023 (the latest year for which we have figures), was just over £100.
We also accept card donations via our card reader at All Saints’ we still take a cash collection at services. Our treasurer can be contacted at treasurer.ockham@gmail.com

CHARITY SUPPORT

We have a policy of running events during the year to support chosen charities. Currently these are:
Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) works in over 20 countries across Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America, defending the right to freedom of religion or belief. Three quarters of the world’s population lives in countries with severe restrictions on their religious freedom – in fact, it’s one of the most widely-violated human rights in the world. CSW's vision is of a world where everyone is free to choose their beliefs – to hold and practise any religion they like, or none at all. More information at www.csw.org.uk
Eikon is an Addlestone-based-based charity which helps children and young people in Surrey feel safe, heard and supported. Eikon listens, talks and helps young people with the skills they need to live their best life. The charity works with families and professional to make sure everyone gets the support they need.
